🖨️ What Is a Printable Finger Size Chart?
A Printable Finger Size Chart is a home ring-sizing guide that helps you compare the circumference of your finger with British ring sizes.
UK ring sizes usually use letters such as J, K, L, M, N, O and P. Half sizes may also be available. Because these letters do not directly show the physical dimensions of a ring, a printable chart can make the relationship between finger circumference and ring size easier to understand.
The key requirement is accurate printing. A sizing chart should be printed at 100% or Actual Size. Selecting options such as “Fit to Page”, “Shrink”, or automatic scaling can change the size of printed measurement guides.
Always check the calibration line on the printed sheet with a physical ruler before using the chart to choose jewellery.
Print Your Finger Measuring Chart
Select Print Chart and choose Actual Size or 100% in your printer settings.

Print at 100% / Actual Size. Confirm the calibration line before measuring.
1. Check Print Scale
Measure the black line below using a physical ruler. It should be exactly 50 mm long. If it is not, adjust your printer scaling and print the page again.
2. Finger Circumference Guide
Use a separate narrow strip of paper around your finger, mark the overlap and compare its length with the millimetre measurements below. Do not rely on this visual ruler unless the 50 mm calibration test above is correct.
| UK Size | Diameter | Circumference |
|---|---|---|
| A | 12.04 mm | 37.8 mm |
| B | 12.45 mm | 39.1 mm |
| C | 12.85 mm | 40.4 mm |
| D | 13.26 mm | 41.7 mm |
| E | 13.67 mm | 42.9 mm |
| F | 14.07 mm | 44.2 mm |
| G | 14.48 mm | 45.5 mm |
| H | 14.88 mm | 46.8 mm |
| I | 15.29 mm | 48.0 mm |
| J | 15.49 mm | 48.7 mm |
| K | 15.90 mm | 50.0 mm |
| L | 16.31 mm | 51.2 mm |
| M | 16.71 mm | 52.5 mm |

Never Use a Printable Ring Chart Before Checking Scale
Printer settings can enlarge or shrink a page. A chart printed at the wrong scale can produce an incorrect ring size even when your finger measurement technique is perfect. The 50 mm calibration line must measure exactly 50 mm with a real ruler.
Use A4 Paper
Load standard A4 paper into your printer. The printable section is designed to work as a simple UK home ring-sizing reference.
Open the Print Window
Select the Print Finger Size Chart button. Your browser will open its normal printing interface.
Select 100% or Actual Size
Avoid Fit to Page, Scale to Fit, Shrink to Printable Area or similar automatic resizing options.
Print the Chart
Print one copy and place it flat on a table before checking the calibration measurement.
Measure the 50 mm Calibration Line
Place a physical ruler alongside the black line. If the line does not measure exactly 50 mm, do not use that printout for ring sizing.
Wrap → Mark → Measure → Match
A simple paper-strip method for using the printable finger size chart.
Cut a Paper Strip
Use a thin, straight strip of ordinary paper that will not stretch.
Wrap Around the Finger
Position the strip where the ring will normally sit.
Mark the Overlap
Mark the point where the strip first overlaps itself.
Measure in Millimetres
Flatten the paper and measure from its end to the mark.
After confirming that your printout is correctly scaled, cut a narrow strip of paper. You do not need to cut the sizing table itself.
Wrap the paper strip around the base of the finger on which the ring will be worn. Keep it snug enough to represent a comfortable ring but do not pull it painfully tight.
Mark the point where the paper overlaps. Remove it from your finger, straighten it and measure the length in millimetres.
This length represents an estimate of your finger circumference. Find the nearest circumference value on the Printable Finger Size Chart and read the corresponding UK letter.
If your measurement falls between two sizes, check whether the retailer offers a half size. Also remember that a broad ring can feel tighter than a thin band at the same nominal size.
| UK Size | Diameter | Finger Circumference | Approx. Inches |
|---|
Note: Measurements may vary slightly between jewellery retailers and conversion references. Treat the chart as a sizing guide rather than a guaranteed fit.
Comfortable Temperature
Very cold fingers can measure smaller, while heat may increase swelling.
Normal Part of Day
Measure when your hands feel typical rather than immediately after unusual activity.
Measure More Than Once
Repeat the paper-strip measurement and compare your results.
Correct Hand
Measure the actual hand on which you plan to wear the ring.
Check the Knuckle
The ring must pass over the knuckle as well as fit the base of the finger.
Consider Band Width
Wider bands often feel more snug than slim rings.
A printable finger sizing guide can provide a useful home estimate when the page is printed accurately and the finger is measured carefully.
Printing scale is one of the biggest sources of error. Even a small change in page scaling can alter physical measurement guides. This is why the calibration line should always be checked before using any printed ring sizing template.
Paper-strip tension can also affect the result. Pulling the strip too tightly may suggest a smaller size, while wrapping it too loosely can result in a larger recommendation.
Your finger is not a perfectly rigid circle either. Knuckle size, finger shape, temperature and natural swelling all affect how a finished ring feels.
For wedding rings, engagement rings, expensive jewellery or designs that are difficult to resize, confirm the estimated size using a jeweller's physical ring-sizing set.
- ❌ Printing the chart using “Fit to Page” instead of 100% or Actual Size.
- ❌ Skipping the calibration-line check after printing.
- ❌ Wrapping paper so tightly that it compresses the finger.
- ❌ Measuring the wrong finger or assuming both hands are identical.
- ❌ Measuring only the finger base when a larger knuckle must also fit through the ring.
- ❌ Ignoring the width of the ring you intend to buy.
Printable Finger Measurement
Measuring finger circumference is useful when you do not already own a ring that fits the intended finger. The paper-strip method measures the finger directly and can then be compared with a circumference chart.
Existing Ring Diameter
If you already have a ring that fits properly, measuring its inside diameter can provide another useful estimate. Measure directly across the empty inner opening without including the metal band.
Using Both Methods
When possible, compare both measurements. If your finger circumference and existing-ring diameter point towards the same UK size, you have a stronger home estimate than relying on one quick measurement alone.
